Summary
Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Interviews clients directly and by phone, assess needs, and makes referrals as appropriate.
Responsible for providing basic and detailed information to callers and walk-ins about status of LIHEAP application and services available through CAC and other community resources if applicable.
Initiates the intake process by assisting applicants in completion of required forms.
Assists with the collection of client information and required documentation for program eligibility.
Assists with the verification of eligibility for various programs and services according to prescribed guidelines.
Accesses LIHEAP Database, THO, EBMS and KUB Portal to pull required documentation.
Uses assessment information to make referrals to the appropriate CAC service, or other community resource.
Utilizes computers to access LIHEAP database and assist with data entry of all incoming applications as needed.
Records activities as instructed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Extensive knowledge of community resources, both inside and outside of CAC, available to households in need of financial assistance and social service support.
Must be computer literate and familiar with common computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work well with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to ascertain facts by personal contact, observation, and the examination of records.
Ability to perform detailed work with efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
ualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in social work, human services, adult education or related field.
- An equivalent combination of related work experience and/or education may be substituted for the education requirement.
- Must have experience in data entry, customer service, good prior work record, familiarity with computers, ability to type at least 40 wpm and able to demonstrate skill in data entry and database management.
