Summary: The Contract Therapist provides trauma‑informed, developmentally appropriate mental health services to transitional age youth residing at Lumen Flats Knoxville. This role supports young adults with complex histories of foster care involvement, housing instability, and behavioral health needs. Services are delivered within a wraparound, housing‑based model and emphasize engagement, stabilization, skill‑building, and successful transition to independent adulthood.

Hours are flexible and based on the number of residents served and identified clinical need. This is a non‑benefited, contract position.

Program Overview: Lumen Flats Knoxville is dedicated to providing stable housing and comprehensive wraparound support services for young adults aging out of foster care. In partnership with the local housing authority and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS), the program serves individuals ages 18–24 for up to 36 months. Services include mentorship, case management, mental health care, and educational and employment supports. Lumen Flats Knoxville is Elmington’s first property designated specifically for the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) program and is the foundation of a broader statewide initiative.

If you’ve navigated mental health, education, or other youth-serving systems yourself and want to use your experience to help others, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young adults during a critical stage of transition to adulthood.

We’re seeking a compassionate, motivated young adult with lived experience in the behavioral health system to join our team as a peer support professional serving transition-age youth (18–25). In this role, you’ll build supportive relationships, help young adults overcome barriers, connect them to resources and services, advocate alongside them, and empower them to navigate school, mental health, housing, employment, and community systems with confidence.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about youth mental health, enjoys connecting with others, values teamwork, and wants to turn personal experience into purpose-driven work. You’ll receive training, professional development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a mission-focused organization committed to supporting young people and families across Tennessee.
