Clinch-Powell’s Appalachia CARES program is currently recruiting an AmeriCorps member to primarily work in groundskeeping of multiple properties in Rutledge, TN.
This position will be primarily involved in landscape and garden design and maintenance around historic properties as part of the downtown revitalization efforts. There will be some light construction and building maintenance as well. A strong candidate will have experience and ability to operate commercial equipment including mowers, trimmers, weed eaters and blowers. Hardscape and/or construction experience is a plus.
We are looking to fill this position on by June 1. Work will take place onsite in Rutledge, TN. Exact weekly hours will vary based on the term agreed upon, but options from 20-40 hours a week can be discussed, including flexibility for students when the school year resumes. AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance while in service and an education award for tuition or student loans upon successful completion. Members who are age 55+ have the option to transfer the education award benefit to a child or grandchild.
Requirements
Minimum 17 years of age, criminal history check, AmeriCorps citizenship verification, driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs and bend, kneel and dig, and be a self starter. Experience in lawncare and landscaping preferred. Experience in hardscaping and light construction is a plus.
